Amelie and Nia’s Beach Clean Up

Following the success of local girls Amelie and Nia’s litterpick on mayday bank holiday, these two youngsters have inspired a whole community. Today we helped them expand on there example and the amount of people who showed up really shows that people do care about Barry.

Although the sun came out for us and it was the RNLI open day, it wasn’t a hot day on the beach so the number of visitors was quite low and the beach already looked spotless when we started out. But we still managed to fill 4 bags of rubbish, mostly small plastic pieces which was great as this event was part of the Daily Mail’s campaign ‘The Great Plastic Pickup’.

It’s also great to see our local politicians support us at this event with cross-party support along with various members from different groups.

We’d like to say a big thankyou to the Vale council and Keep Wales Tidy for donating the new litter picks and gloves to Beautiful Barry. We will ensure they will get plenty of use at future events!

Thankyou to everyone who showed up and watch this space for the next one!
